Part of the series Fragments of the Soul
I began painting when my son left for university. Facing this new chapter, I felt compelled to occupy my time, and I discovered in painting far more than a simple pastime—I found a passion that allows me to express what words so often cannot convey. I have always painted with the emotion of the soul. Each canvas is a piece of myself, an encounter with feeling, memory, dreams, and inner landscapes. Whether working in figuration or abstraction, I allow color and form to give voice to my sensibility. Throughout my practice, I have had the opportunity to exhibit widely and share my work with diverse audiences. Each experience has brought new emotion and reinforced my commitment to continue creating. I am Beth Gomes, and I believe that painting transcends the mere presentation of images: it transmits emotion, tells stories, and touches the soul of those who encounter it. I paint from the heart, because it is in emotion that I find the true essence of my art.

Surviving the Desert
2024
Acrylic
70x100
I captured a solitary tree rising against the desert's vastness, a symbol of resilience and hope. This painting reminds us that even in our darkest moments, the soul finds strength to survive, flourish, and believe in renewal.
