Opening in Punta del Este in January 2022, the Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA), is the first and only museum in Uruguay promoting global contemporary art. Spanning across 90 acres of natural landscape, the museum hopes to become a creative hub for its community, where so many artists have left a permanent mark in the history of art.
The project is a creation of internationally acclaimed master sculptor, Pablo Atchugarry, and completes a sequence of structures realized by the Foundation that bears his name (Fundación Pablo Atchugarry).
Designed by world renowned architect Carlos Ott, MACA will present artwork across five exhibition rooms and a surrounding Sculpture Park, comprised of 70 monumental artworks by international artists. Guests will enjoy elsewhere throughout the Museum: a gift shop, cafeteria, theatre room, auditorium, and a large outdoor terrace. The Museum is to be Directed by Leonardo Noguéz, and its President of the Board of Trustees is writer & businessman Roberto Vivo. MACA’s advisory board includes: Jorge Helft, Angel Kalenberg, Renos Xippas, Emma Sanguinetti and Piero Atchugarry. Go to Website
