Sergei Dubinin

My artistic practice is devoted to exploring light, space, and the inner life of the human experience. I work within poetic impressionism, where light functions not merely as a landscape element, but as a conduit for emotion, memory, and lived experience. I am drawn to quiet natural motifs: forest paths, shorelines, tree-lined avenues, and those moments when light transforms the familiar into the transcendent. Through my work, I seek to capture not a specific place, but the sensation of inhabiting it—a state of stillness, contemplation, and interior movement. Most of my paintings emerge from direct observation of nature, plein air practice, personal impressions, and memory. I begin by seeking the particular quality of light that will become the foundation of each work. From there, I gradually construct space, atmosphere, and color relationships, attempting to preserve the vital emotional resonance of what I have witnessed. For me, painting is less about representing the world around us than about discovering the light that bridges the external landscape and the inner world of human consciousness.
